This short story introduces us to Chris Brent, or as the workers call him; “Chief”, who is a janitor in the most beautiful building in New York. The story shows the everyday life and interactions of Chief with the employees. It shows how well Chief knows the workers he takes trash out for everyday. The employees are warm to Chief because he sees the good in these people and helps them out a lot in their daily struggles, and helps to keep them sane at times. But then, When temptation presents itself, true personalities show up and in an unexpected manner, things suddenly fall out of place.

This book was short but very full and I loved it!

I am not kidding when I say that once I started reading this, I went through it fast. When the author reached out to me, I had no idea what this was about because it only had a very vague description on Amazon. The story starts off light and simple. I enjoyed the little details of their conversations. I appreciated how they interact with Chief the janitor, as it hits a little close to my heart. This story involves morals and realizations that are truly presents in everyday life. Once you encounter the conflict in the story, you'll stop and realize what would you do if it were you given your current situation now? It makes you step back and see things that happen every day show up in the words you're reading.

I hate open endings, but this ending was something different. The author did a wonderful job of incorporating morals to the story without being too straight forward about it. Then in the end of the story , the author wrote it with great intention as to not make you feel like there's something missing, it leaves you with a question, but you realize that you have the answer to that question as well.

I wanted to read more, I wanted to know if my speculation was true, but it was done, just like that, and it was great! ( you can read a sample of the book here)

I highly recommend this to anyone, it's a short story and you would not regret picking it up. It's a quick read and surely will be worth your time....And it is certainly not trash (haha you'll know when you read it).

So please let me know if you do read  this! because I need someone to talk to about it !!!

Thankyou to the author John Lyttle III for reaching out and introducing your book!. looking forward to more of your work!
